Recently I had an interesting conversation with a friend on how the emerging web platform will affect the current desktop client platform monopolised by Microsoft. The move to the web is being spearheaded by companies such as Google and Yahoo. Of course Microsoft is also hedging its bet via sites such as MSN.

With the growing popularity and availability of broadband internet connections, the internet has become an indispensable part of our lives, both at home and at the office. It seems inevitable that Sun’s vision of “the network is the computer” will come to fruition.
